It's also the world's largest olympic torch, as the top lights up on special occasions. There are no plans to destroy the building, or jack it up to make it taller.
Personally, I think it should stay the way it is, as it represents an important piece of Calgary's history. This city destroys enough old buildings to make way for new glass skyscrapers as it is.
